Since I've been having a "menswear moment" lately, this is pretty much my perfect NYE party look. Here's to a wonderful 2011!

Maggie Rizer
I hate to admit it, but I think about Maggie Rizer way too often. You know, that model from the late 90's with the round face and the red (sometimes blond) hair. I might have even been more obsessed with her than with Kate Moss or Linda Evangelista until she dropped off the face of Vogue in the early 2000s.
So if you're like me (because of course, you are), you'll be pretty much ecstatic to discover her blog Bea Makes Three. It's mostly nonsense about her dogs and husband and such, but she still looks like she lives in a J.Crew ad.
Some facts about Maggie (taken from Wikipedia, natch):
1. She's from Staten Island (who knew people actually came from there!)
2. Her dad was gay and died of AIDS (sad).
3. She looks even younger now than she did in 1999 when she was on the cover of Vogue with Kate Moss (she actually ages backwards).
4. Sources (me) say this blog might be the start of her big modeling comeback.
Finger's crossed.

The Band That Changed Everything
Today I was posed this question: "What if it turned out the Beatles were American actors and their whole story was invented as a huge music marketing ploy?" I guess I would never look at Strawberry Fields the same way again.
P.S. I hate to admit it, but I'm enjoying the Beatles ads for iTunes a little too much.

Winter Food
Semi-arctic temperatures make me thankful for pretzel croissants and hot chocolate at City Bakery. The $9.25 price tag, however, makes me gasp in horror. Oh well.

White Socks + Black Shoes
What say you, blog readers: Would you dare to wear white socks with black shoes? I tried the combo a couple months ago. At work, I was compared to Audrey Hepburn. Then the bf saw and said I looked like a fashion disaster (paraphrasing). I still think I like the look, but I'm open to suggestions.

Oh, Christmas Tree
Instead of a big tree, we have two small feather trees this year. But they're sitting in the corner – sad and bare and in desperate need of decoration. With some quick inspiration, I might be getting crafty this weekend.

All I Want for Christmas
Thanksgiving has passed, and it's time for girls and boys to start writing their Christmas wish lists. I mailed this one to the big guy, so now it's just a waiting game to see what he puts under the tree.

Thanksgiving Plans
Tomorrow I'm cooking this artichoke recipe for Thanksgiving dinner in the suburbs. But I still haven't decided on an outfit. It should strike the perfect balance between comfy (ie. stretchy leggings) and something leopard. Like this holiday look from Zara.

Lucy in the Sky
Everyone is crazy for sapphires after the recent royal engagement, but I'm still loving these yellow diamonds from Tiffany's.

Turbans are Fun
Last week I discovered (my new favorite blog) The Man Repeller, and started digging into her archives. I came across this DIY turban tutorial, and I had to give it a try. For a whole day, I walked around Astoria with a silk scarf on my head – and boy was I hot. Literally. How do people wear turbans all day, every day? I had to take it off during The Social Network. I figured no one would notice.
A photo from the movie theater (posing by a display for the next Narnia installment). I was going for a "gypsy in Queens" look.

Cold Weather Stripes
It's annoying how cute Cardigan by Lynne Hiriak stripe tees, sweaters, and accessories really are. And it's double annoying that they're too damn expensive. Even with a $100 off promo code (CARDIGANS), pieces like this adorable scarf or a pair of elbow-length knit gloves are still pretty steep.
Although, now that it's cold, these things are more of a necessity than an extravagance...right?

It's Baaaack
Finally! A Glee episode that reminds me of the Season 1 magic. All the boys' songs were hits (Bob Marley, Teenage Dream, Free Your Mind / Stop! In the Name of Love medley), and the girls' one number was a flop. What can you do?
The best a capella version of Katy Perry ever:
Confession: Around minute 1:40, it started to reminded me of Imogen Heap. Not that that's a bad thing.

Fur Vests (Pt. 2)
I can't believe I posted this almost (exactly) a year ago, and I'm still coveting a fur vest. Whatever happened to the power of positive thinking?
New Shoes
Two months after our first encounter, these Madewell shoes are finally mine. I wore them today, and my feet burned with the pain of a thousand blisters. But I patched up my heels with a strip of moleskine, and they are much better. Thanks for asking.

Clemence Poesy
I've been lamenting the loss of Clemence Poesy from Gossip Girl for 23 days, 1 hour, and 41 minutes. As my roommate Janelle says, "She brought the classy to Gossip Girl." If anyone has already started a petition to reunite her and Chuck, I'll sign that right now. Message me.

Givenchy Haute Couture 2010
I swore off fashion show posting for the last month (residual hard feelings from NY Fashion Week). I know this collection is quite old by now, but it's my favorite from the haute couture shows so I couldn't help posting. (photos via vogue.com)

Emma Roberts
I never took much notice of Julia Roberts' niece. She seemed like a nice enough girl – someone in line to be the next Disney teen queen. So I was surprised and super impressed with her performance as a teen cutter in It's Kinda a Funny Story. It might not have persuaded me to watch Hotel for Dogs or Nancy Drew, but I'll be looking forward to seeing what she does next.
The Crop Top
Last week tragedy struck. I got my clothes back from laundry service, and they had shrunk my favorite new t-shirt to half it's length. Good thing crop tops are back in style. I wore it to work the next day with a high-waisted pencil skirt.

Mark Ronson
The Mark Ronson show in Brooklyn last week was filled with hipsters, cool kids, and really great music. I didn't listen to the album before going, but now I'm pretty much obsessed with Lose It (in the End). Ghostface didn't make an appearance (come on!) but the song was still pretty incredible.
Another highlight: Alex Greenwald from Phantom Planet performing California with the Ronson crew. Actually, it was pretty much the highlight of my live music experience so far.

Catching Up
You ask: What has Little J been doing the past month? She sure hasn't been blogging.
Well, since you asked.
