Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown...?

I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a feminist, but I felt outraged for women (and little girls) everywhere while watching Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown last night. All the girls portrayed in the movie are annoying, love sick, and verbally abused by all the boys. They don't have intelligent actions or thoughts and are compelled to constantly spill their hearts out to their crushes (and then subsequently are yelled or laughed at).

Also, Linus appears to have substance abuse issues, which I found very disturbing. The only good heartwarming thing to come out of the movie was Snoopy. And by the way, I really want to get a dog.

French Revolution Fever

It's pretty unthinkable that I haven't mentioned how ecstatic I am about the new Les Miserables in December. I've had an internal countdown since August. CANNOT. WAIT.

FW S/S '13 Recap

If all the world's a runway show, then all the men and women are merely spectators, fighting for front row seats. As crazed as I felt for the seven long days of Fashion Week, I still loved it. Here's what went down on my Instagram...

Reem Acra

 Rebecca Minkoff – Backstage

Band of Outsiders – Backstage

Thom Browne (probably my favorite show and the hardest to describe)

Mara Hoffman

Rodarte – Backstage

Jen Kao – Backstage

Other shows I saw...
Kimberly Ovitz
Edun – Backstage
Rachel Antonoff – Backstage

MTV Mondays

I know this song has been around for a while, but it's just really good. Happy Monday.

The (Funny) Boys of Summer

I think I got my wires crossed between winter and spring because for whatever reason I've been incredibly stressed this summer. To lighten the mental load, I've become a huge fan of ex-stand-up comedians – as in they used to be on stage but now they're just on television, movies, books, and webisodes.

Here's what I've been ingesting in no particular order:

Every single episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm on hbogo. I could be BFFs with Jeff; I'm creeped out by Richard Lewis (might be the mullet-like hair and shifty eyes); and I'd treat Larry so much better than Cheryl. She just doesn't get him.

Born Standing Up: A Comedian's Life by Steve Martin. Am I still the only one obsessed with him? This was the most melancholy of all the comedy-type books I read (estranged family, broken relationships, panic attacks). But it made me feel closer to someone I don't even know in real life (which is one of the things Steven Martin REALLY hates about being famous).

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld. Honestly, I started watching this because Larry David was in the first video. (Best line: "Me out of control is a half a bag of cashews.") But it's actually incredibly entertaining to watch these old guys crack each other up.

Burning Love: The Most Romantic Web Series That Will Ever Be. I wasn't sure I should mention this since all the actors probably still do stand up. But it's a spot-on spoof of my favorite show The Bachelor, and it's worth a watch.

A Second Opinion

Help! I'm dying ... to buy this wacky-yet-wonderful charm bracelet. It's even 18k gold (plated) since my finicky skin won't stand for anything less. But is $82 too much to spend on something I might not be able to bring myself to look at in a year? Or is $82 mere pennies compared to the joy this one piece of jewelry will bring me for the rest of my life? Really, any advice would be much appreciated.
